Landmark Medical Center recently received three awards at the Quality Partners of Rhode Island's Outcome Congress Program, held in Providence in November. Landmark was the only recipient to receive an achievement award of 95 percent or greater for managing patients with heart failure, including assessment of heart function, medication allocation, smoking cessation programs, and accuracy of discharge instructions for heart failure patients who were hospitalized in late 2006 through early 2007.
The two other performance awards included 90 percent or greater achievement in the "Appropriate Care Measure Composite Score," which encompasses quality improvement measures in the clinical topics of acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, and pneumonia, as well as 90 percent or greater achievement in the SCIP (Surgical Care Improvement Project) for infection control, specifically the use of antibiotics for surgical patients who were hospitalized in early 2007.
"We are extremely proud of the awards presented to the hospital from Quality Partners of Rhode Island," said Sharon Fiola, Landmark's Vice President for Quality. "We, as an institution, are continuously striving to improve and enhance the care we provide to our patients, and it is certainly rewarding to see positive outcomes from our efforts."
