More than 100 people benefited by Landmark Medical Center’s annual skin cancer screening, which was held Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Outpatient Cancer Center at Landmark’s Woonsocket Unit, 115 Cass Avenue.
Dermatologists Stephen Glinick, M.D., Elizabeth Welch, M.D., and Orazio Basile, M.D. volunteered their time to perform the exams. Phyllis Kelliher, nurse manager of the Northern Rhode Island Hematology/Oncology Program (Dr. Ahmed Nadeem’s office) at Landmark, and Maria Appenfeller, nurse manager at the Southern New England Regional Cancer Center, which provides radiation therapy at Landmark, coordinated the event, and all of Dr. Nadeem’s staff volunteered at the event.
“With so many people facing economic hardship and the loss of health insurance, the need for these types of free clinics is greater than ever. We’re pleased to be able to provide this service to our community,” said Dr. Nadeem.
