Landmark Medical Center has earned reaccreditation by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), following an intensive on-site review recently by AABB assessors.
“The AABB’s accreditation procedures are completely voluntary,” said Samuel Ciotola, lab administrator. “Landmark has sought this accreditation because of the program’s commitment to helping hospitals achieve excellence by promoting a level of professional and medical expertise that contributes to quality and patient safety.”
AABB’s Accreditation Program assists blood banks and transfusion services in determining whether methods, procedures, personnel knowledge, equipment and physical plant meet established requirements. Founded in 1947, the AABB sets standards, assesses and accredits blood collection and transfusion facilities in the U.S. and around the world, and provides continuing education and information.
