Landmark Medical Center is now accepting applications for its After-School Volunteer Program, which is open to students ages 14 (by Sept. 1) to 21 years old who are friendly, compassionate, and dependable. Students are placed based on interests, skills, and talents. Schedules vary, but a time commitment of two to four hours per week between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. for a minimum of 45 total hours of service from September to June is required. Limited weekend positions are also available. Orientation and training are provided.
Openings include: Dietary Assistants (help in passing out patient trays and performing clerical tasks in diet office); Dispatch Assistants (deliver and sort supplies, trays, and medical supplies); Nursing Unit Assistants (light clerical and patient-support duties); Patient Registration Assistants (greet and escort patients to testing or deliver patient charts); and Clerical Assistants in various departments, including Medical Records, Finance and others.
Students 18 and older can apply to be Emergency Department Assistants. Tasks include: escorting and transporting patients, making up clean stretchers, stocking rooms, running errands and other duties. The position is appropriate for pre-med or nursing students, or those interested in similar healthcare careers.
REQUIREMENTS OF STUDENT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
• Completed application
• Parental permission, if under 18
• Proof of recent two-step TB test within 12 months (Landmark will provide).
• Proof of two dates of MMR & varicella immunizations
• Minimum total time commitment – 45 hours between September and June
• Attend an orientation session
